New P2P Feature: Push Notifications

. 2 min read

As part of our ongoing efforts to improve the LocalCoinSwap trading experience we have now integrated push notifications into the platform. Push notifications are special dropdown notifications that appear in your desktop or phone browser even when you are not logged into LocalCoinSwap.

We don't want to spam you with irrelevant notifications, so we will only show you notifications if you have a new trade or receive a message from an ongoing trade.

Push notifications can be tricky to properly understand, in fact even as a developer it took me some time to learn exactly how they work. So here are some of the main things you should know:

  • You can go to your LocalCoinSwap settings page to send a test notification to yourself and make sure they are working.
  • Push notification settings are controlled by your browser. If they are turned off then you must turn them on through your browser.
  • Push notifications can only play from one browser and device at a time, which is the most recent browser you used to access LocalCoinSwap. To change push notifications to your current browser, simply reload any page.
  • Some browsers can be a little weird. If push notifications isn't working you might have to reset your browser cache. This is simple to do but you will need to log back into LocalCoinSwap afterwards

The options related to push notifications can be found in your settings page here:

In Firefox & Chrome you can get to your notification settings through the padlock next to the left of the URL on any website:

In Firefox you must click on the permissions menu, but in Chrome you can change the notifications directly from the padlock menu:

If notifications aren't working try clearing your cache and logging into the site again. To do this click on "clear cookies and site data" in the Firefox dropdown menu. In Chrome click on "site settings" in the padlock dropdown menu and then click "clear data".

Hope you enjoy this new feature. If you have any questions or issues, please raise a support ticket or reach out to us on Telegram.

Happy trading!
